Mira Mikati teamed up with the iconic French department store Galeries Lafayette, to create an immersive window experience, designed to spread hope and optimism during the height of the pandemic.
Mikati applied her trademark brand of vibrant colours, whimsical characters and irreverent design to bring smiles to the faces of Parisians at a time when smiles were few and far between.
Spearheading the creative direction, Mikati enlisted the help of Australian husband-and-wife artists DABSMYLA to create a visual voyage of rainbows, cartoon characters, poetry and flowers.
Mikati also invited Brooklyn-based artist and expert doodler Jon Burgerman to create an installation to sit inside Galeries Lafayette. Burgerman drew on his characteristic wit and pop-culture references to create a vast sculpture of graphic “monsters”, seemingly bursting out of a box with happiness.
Mikati’s Flagship London store, known as “The Happy House”, is a natural extension of the Galeries Lafayette experience, bursting with art, floral displays and bold colours.
