Characterised by her camp designs, Mira Mikati ventured into the fashion world to disrupt the monotony of serious dressing. Her latest art world collaboration venture seems oddly fitting, partnering with the quirky Minions of Despicable Me (Craig and Karl to be exact) and reworking their characters into street-chic wares.

Working with her signature tomboyish silhouettes, Mikati—a known beach-lover— produced a Minions-on-vacation capsule collection. Think Minions in bucket hats, fanny packs, and tropical holiday garb embroidered onto oversized hoodies, micro-printed onto Oxford-stripe button-downs, and appliquéd onto the brand’s bread-and-butter bomber jacket.

In true form, Mikati’s designs offer more than what meets the eye, her signature detailing making the pieces effortlessly wearable, charmingly chic, and unpredictably adult-appropriate. Take her trademark bomber: the brand’s staple jacket acted as a blank canvas for haphazardly placed thematic patchwork depicting the ubiquitous characters alongside wanderlust-centric iconography like monocle pineapples, rainbows, and palm trees. A gamine button-down with oversized flare cuffs received similar treatment, mixing its traditional Oxford stripes with all-over micro-printed illustrations of travel cups, bon bons, outdoorsy doodles (like the brand’s logotype rainbows), and Minons in straw caps.

Rounding out the sartorial lineup was an extra-slouchy hoodie featuring a larger than life Craig decked out in a charmingly nerdy vacation outfit. Sporting a bucket hat, fanny pack, and sunnies with drink in hand, the trouble-making character is embroidered front and back, accented with extra-long drawstrings to finish the oversized look.
